Civil Aviation Authority Regulated Agent

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)

CAA aviation security regulatory activity and compliance

CAA Regulated Agent 190

The CAA has been responsible for aviation security regulatory activity and compliance monitoring since 1 April 2014, when these functions transferred from the Department for Transport (DfT).

The Civil Aviation Authority is the statutory corporation which oversees and regulates all aspects of civil aviation in the United Kingdom. As a CAA Regulated Agent Spatial Global is authorised to conduct business with an operator and provides security controls that are accepted or required by the appropriate authority in respect of cargo, courier and express parcels or mail.

As a CAA Regulated Agent Spatial Global can

  • Handle cargo which will be carried on civil aircraft
  • Cargo handled by us can be flown from any UK Airport to a destination outside the UK
  • Deliver cargo direct to an aircraft operator (or via an agent acting on our behalf)

In achieving CAA Accreditations Spatial Global have demonstrated:

  • All staff (permanent, temporary/agency staff and drivers) with access to air cargo/mail have received the appropriate aviation security training
  • Access to the production area is controlled and the production process is supervised

Around 80% of air cargo is carried on passenger aircraft so it is important that all air cargo is robustly screened to ensure that prohibited articles are not part of the flown cargo. Spatial Global are routinely audited by the CAA cargo security compliance team to ensure that the appropriate screening methods are invoked and that the secure supply chain is maintained from point of origin to the point of uplift.
