Spatial Global and its parent company The Keswick Enterprises Group were well represented at the recent Logistics Futures 2015 networking conference and dinner at the Skyways Hotel, East Midlands Airport, in October. The Group had a dozen senior personnel at the dinner, and also hosted a number of customers, but food wasn't the only thing on the menu... Unknown to him, the organisers - Logistics Leaders Network - had designed the event around a celebration of Keswick Enterprises Chairman, John Harvey's, nearly sixty years in the logistics industry. After gaining a First at Cambridge, John's career started in 1957 when he joined Unilever as a graduate trainee. In 1984 he was heading-up Unilever's logistics company when he led an MBO to establish Tibbett & Britten Group. Over the next 20 years, under John's direction, this business developed from a £30m domestic carrier into a £1,600m logistics service provider, active in 34 countries. After the 2004 Exel takeover, John founded Keswick Enterprises to invest in European supply chain related businesses. The Group's portfolio now includes co-packing, sourcing, freight forwarding, mail, e-commerce, fulfilment, intermodal transport, logistics and consultancy services. At the Logistics Futures dinner John (on the right of the stage) was presented with a celebratory cake and a book of reminiscences from current and former customers and colleagues. He gave an excellent speech on the challenges and changes he has seen in the logistics sector during his long career - an inspiration to the 100 leading logistics experts present.
