Mike Wallis is principal speaker at Love Business post-Brexit workshop

Mike Wallis, a main board director of The Keswick Enterprises Group and Executive Chairman of its Spatial Global international freight and mail management subsidiary, has agreed to be a principal speaker at the first Love Business 'post-Brexit' workshop in Derby on 15 September. Created by the organisers of the East Midlands region's Love Business Expo, the breakfast workshop is entitled 'Evolving your sales strategy for a 'post-Brexit' economy', and will address the impact of the UK's exit from the European Union on UK trade. An expert on global trade and import/export logistics, Mike Wallis will discuss the most likely consequences of Brexit and what businesses can do to take advantage of the opportunities it presents. His experience in the management of import and export supply chains and the 'real world' of businesses that depend on overseas trade, will provide valuable insights into how industry should be gearing up for the impact of the UK's departure. He will highlight the opportunities for businesses in the East Midlands in particular. The impact of Brexit on UK export and import patterns is fast becoming one of the central economic issues in the run-up to the triggering of Article 50 – the formal mechanism for leaving the EU. The task of negotiating and separating will be complex, and carried out under the pressure of a two-year deadline. New trade deals, the possibility of higher tariffs and changing quotas will have serious effects on UK business:
  • Will a post-Brexit UK need a new trade deal with the EU'
  • Will tariffs be imposed on UK goods and services'
  • Will the negotiations take place on a country-by-country basis'
  • Does the government have the skills to negotiate an EU trade deal'
  • How will it affect trade with the rest of the world'
  • What can businesses do to prepare now'
The Love Business post-Brexit breakfast workshop will take place at Riverside Chambers, Derby, from 7.30 to 11.30am on 15 September 2016, and entry is free to all.
