Project Cargo Shipping

If you design and manufacture the latest motion base ride systems for a worldwide customer base – how do you get them to where you need to install them?

Garmendale design, make and export theme park rides for installation across the globe

The second-generation family-run company based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire have a proven track record of delivering high quality engineering solutions across the world. Specialising in the design, development and delivery of rides and services for the leisure industry, they have worked with some of the biggest brands in the theme park sector.

World class theme park engineering since 1980

Garmendale have been designing, making and mending theme park rides and systems since 1980. Originally the business was established with a focus on specialist welding, aiming for and achieving standards that others couldn’t reach. It wasn’t long before demand for their specialist services were requested from further afield - and then the challenge of ‘project cargo’ became apparent.

Why is project cargo shipping so challenging?

Moving the big, the heavy, and the wide means the planning process for moving project cargo continues to grow in detail and complexity especially for manufacturers like Garmendale who need to factor transportation into design and production. Building intricate components intended for assembly on-site means the project logistics supply chain needs machine-like precision.

What has working with Spatial Global added?

Spatial Global gets involved in every aspect of documentation, logistics and supply chain management for our overseas installations. If one unit isn't available at the right time and in the right place, it can affect the whole installation. Deliveries and installation timeframes have become much more critical. As a result we’ve brought Spatial Global deeper into the planning fold, and earlier in the process. It starts at the costing stage, if we don't consider transportation and logistics in the design, we could lose the opportunity.

When you’re in the business of moving large and often unwieldy cargoes, crossing your fingers and hoping it all works out is a surefire way to guarantee failure on a spectacular scale. Working with well-trained, innovative people, like the team at Spatial Global, means we can confidently take on a job on the other side of the world.
