John Langton Promotion to E-Commerce Operations Manager

As e-commerce continues to grow, Spatial Global choose an IT expert to oversee channel development

Ecommerce has been one of the major growth areas in the UK economy during the past 12 months. With people impacted by lockdowns and retail forced closures, there has been a huge uplift in online spending. Data from the ONS has found UK online sales in January 2021 accounted for 35.2% of all retail, a record that beats even last May’s high of 34.1%, when the coronavirus crisis was at its first peak.

Survey of 22,00 consumers reveals the UK is the third most shopped market for international online purchases

A survey by eShopWorld has found the UK to be the third most shopped market for international online purchases in the past year, behind China and the US. As more retailers and brands adapt their strategies and cross border customs increase scrutiny, the commerce sector is set to grow and evolve at an increasingly rapid pace. Organisations growing their ecommerce route to market, especially international ecommerce will need a partner who is on top of the respective customs compliance, has the necessary fulfilment experience and is IT driven. John Langton provides this critical final element to the Spatial Global ecommerce capabilities.

Mike Wallis announced the promotion and additional responsibilities

I am delighted to announce that John Langton adds direct management of our E-Commerce operations to his role as IT Manager.

John has been instrumental in improving and streamlining our processes in e-commerce as well as improving the systems functionality and training. He has been involved in a number of new client introductions and the importance of connectivity through API and shopping websites makes this an excellent fit and foundation for further growth.

John has set up the new satellite ecommerce fulfilment operation at Foston. As a response to the growing opportunities in this market Spatial Global will be supporting our sister Keswick Enterprises contract packing businesses, SGL and APS to introduce e-commerce services in Nelson and Blyth respectively.

Ruth Hubball continues as the department supervisor and day to day contact with Florin Goiceanu as Operations Team Leader.

Executive Chairman
