East Midlands Airport talk at Manufacturers Conference

East Midlands Airport Managing Director, Steve Griffiths, gave a compelling talk at today’s East Midlands Manufacturing and Trade Conference 2023.

Did you know EMA is the largest pure cargo airport in the UK'

Steve Griffiths explained that the airports growth in cargo was because it was strategically positioned in the centre of the East Midlands. The East Midlands is the heartland of the UK’s manufacturing community, and the airport exports double the amount it imports as a result of this. The advanced manufacturing located in the region, including aerospace, automotive and pharmaceutical, is complimented by fashion brands and consumer products.

The huge variety of manufacturing SME’s in the region contribute the export of a wide variety of products which leave the UK via East Midlands Airport cargo.

UK air freight services support economic activity across the wider economy.

East Midlands Airport is at the Heart of the logistics ‘Golden Triangle’ - an area of the UK that serves road, rail and air.

High value goods are the key to the regions success.

Most of the UK benefits from the East Midlands Airport Cargo Operation.

More growth is inevitable as express air freight demands increase, and the Freeport becomes a focal point for public and private sector collaboration.

The figures speak for themselves.

Why is East Midlands Airport so dominant in pure cargo'

With the UK’s busiest ‘pure’ cargo airport - East Midlands - and on the crossroads of the UK's road and rail network. It's also central to a once-in-a-generation investment in infrastructure, which will hopefully make the East Midlands the location of choice for UK and international investment.

The acquisition of Hollyport Logistics, a Heathrow based freight forwarder, puts Spatial Global at the centre of the UK's Air Freight operations.
